For us, aloe is much more complex than the clear gel it's known for. We use it for the polysaccharides, amino acids, minerals, and naturally occurring plant compounds that contribute to its hydrating and soothing properties. Its polysaccharides help attract and retain water at the skin's surface while supporting a comfortable, conditioned skin barrier.

We use meadowfoam oil for its unusual stability and for its composition of long-chain fatty acids, which sets it apart from many common plant oils. Its natural resistance to oxidation helps our products to remain stable for longer, while its silky emollient properties help soften the skin and reduce moisture loss without an overly heavy feel.

This rich plant butter, which we love is made predominantly from oleic and stearic fatty acids, which help soften, condition and support the skin's protective barrier. Mango butter also naturally contains tocopherols and phytosterols, while its emollient properties help reduce moisture loss and leave dry skin feeling smoother and more supple.

We include this for it's natural richness in polyphenols (particularly catechins such as EGCG) powerful antioxidant compounds extensively studied in skin research. Applied topically, green tea helps defend against oxidative stress and supports calmer, healthier-looking skin, making it far more than simply a botanical addition in our products.

Now, technically, jojoba isn't an oil - it's a liquid wax ester. We know its structure is remarkably different from conventional plant oils and has similarities to the wax esters naturally present in human sebum. This gives jojoba excellent skin compatibility, helping soften and condition without the heavy feel associated with many richer oils.

We source MRNA-vaccine-free and bovaer-free suet tallow for its distinctive fatty-acid profile containing oleic, stearic and palmitic acids, lipids that also have roles within the skin's natural lipid environment. Its rich emollient character helps soften the skin and reinforce the surface lipid layer, reducing moisture loss and giving dry skin lasting conditioning.

As much as we love the tea, this wonderful extract is more than just a calming botanical. Chamomile contains naturally occurring compounds including apigenin and bisabolol, studied for their soothing and antioxidant properties. We use it to help support calm, comfortable-looking skin while complementing the skin-conditioning ingredients throughout our formulas.

Even though we know rosehip oil is rich in linoleic and alpha-linolenic essential fatty acids, it also contains carotenoids and other antioxidant compounds. These components make it particularly valuable for supporting the skin barrier, improving softness and helping maintain smoother, more even-looking skin.

We think glycerine is an underestimated humectant, which doesn't just make a formula feel moisturising. It also attracts and binds water within the outer layers of the skin, helping maintain hydration and supporting normal barrier function. Glycerine is also naturally present within the skin's own moisturising system, making it an exceptionally effective ingredient despite its simplicity.
